USS SIGSBEE DAMAGED

Although damaged, the Sigsbee was credited with assisting in the downing of four enemy planes as the air attacks continued. The Sigsbee was taken in tow by the USS Dashiell DD-659 and then by the cruiser USS Miami. The night of 4-14-45 saw the ships again under air attack with no damage inflicted. The seagoing tug USS Munsee then towed the disabled ship to Guam for temporary repairs. The Sigsbee was then towed to Pearl, arriving 6-7-45 where she was dry docked and a new stern added. Ready for sea again on 9-28-45, the Sigsbee returned to the east coast arriving 10-22-45.
