Built by Federal Shipyards Kearny, N.J. Commissioned 24, Dec. 1942. Joined squadron July 1943.Commanding officers: Comdr. T.F. Conley Dec. 1942 to Aug. 1944, and Comdr. W.B. Christie. Casualties - 2 wounded in action. Shore Bombardments - 7, Aircraft Shot Down - 0, Times Under Air Attack - 1, Times Under Shore Battery Attack - 5, Operations other areas - African Convoy, April-June 1943, Sea Resces - 11 Pilots, 1 Aircrewmen, Longest Period at Sea - 57 days Honshu-Hokkaido Strikes 1945, Fueling at Sea - 77 Pacific Area, Division Commander Capt. H. Crommelin, U.S. Navy hoisted his pennant on Ringgold when Div. 50 was formed in 1943. Decommissioned March 23, 1946. Stricken October 1, 1974. To West Germany July 14, 1959, renamed Z-2. To Greece September 18, 1981 renamed Kimon. Placed in reserve in 1987. Stricken and broken up for scrap in 1993.
