JOHN RODGERS FACTS:

Built by Consolidated Steel Corp., LTD in Orange, Texas.  Laid Down: July 25, 1941 and  Launched  May 7, 1942.  DD-574  Commissioned February 9, 1943.  Joined squadron Aug. 1943.  Commanding Officers - Comdr. H.O. Parrish 2/9/43 then Comdr. J.G. Franklin took command.  Plank owners - 2 officers and 117 enlisted men.  Individual Awards - 2 Bronze Stars, 1 Navy/Marine Medal, 1 Purple Heart. Shore Bombarments - 8.  Enemy Aircraft Shot Down - 5.  Surface Craft Sunk  1.  Times Under Air Attack - 26.  Times Under Shore Battery Attack - 2.  Mines Detonated or Sunk - 6. Squadron Flag of DesRon 25,  Days On Radar Picket or Tomcat - 11, Sea Rescues: Pilots 16, AirCrew 9, Other 1,  Longest Period at Sea - 68 days.  Fueling at Sea - 142 Pacific Area.   Provisions/Ammunitions at Sea - 24 Pacific Area.  . Decommissioned May 25, 1947. Stricken May 1, 1968. Sold to Mexico Aug. 19, 1970, renamed CUITLAHUAC.
