Laid down by Federal Shipbuilding, Kearny NJ. October 1, 1942.  Launched February 6 ,1943 and commissioned March 20, 1943.  Joined squadron Aug. 1943, Commanding officer J. B. McClean 3/43 to 1/44.  Comdr. E.A. Barham 1/44 to 7/44. Comdr. D.L. Cordiner 7/44.  Casualties - 6 wounded.  Shore Bombardments - 5.  Enemy Aircraft Shot Down - 9. Surface Craft Sunk - 5.  Times Under Air Attack - 42.  Times Under Shore Battery Attack - 2  Mines Destroyed - 14. Days As Radar Picket - 29.  Sea Rescues - Pilots 4, Aircrewmen 8.  Longest Period at Sea- 68 days. Fueling at Sea - 118 South Pacific Area. Decommissioned March 30, 1946 recommissioned May 3, 1951.  Decommissioned April 29 1960. Stricken December 1, 1974.  Sold September 21, 1975 and broken up for scrap.
